Proton unveils the new Proton Persona ( 2016-08-28 )

The all-new Proton Persona is available in three variants – Standard, Executive and Premium as well as choice of six body colours – Cotton White, Quartz Black, Sterling Silver, Graphite Grey, Fire Red and Carnelian Brown. The new Proton Persona receives 5-Star Asean NCAP rating across all its variants.

In terms of selling price, the Standard with manual transmission will retail for RM46,800, while the same with CVT-equipped will cost RM49,800. Both Executive and Premium range are only available in CVT, retails for RM55,800 and RM59,800 respectively. The buyer of Proton Premium can has an option to add on a unique bodykit for an extra RM1,000. All prices are OTR with insurance.

The new Proton Persona is powered by the 1.6VVT engine which able to deliver 107 hp at 5,750 rpm and torque of 150 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The CVT is also being improved with reduced Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) levels. Fitted with Eco mode, it is also a first time that an ECO Drive Assist indicator is being installed in the Proton car to improve fuel economy and deliver extra mileage.

The Proton Persona comes with spacious interior with ergonomically designed seats which provide comfortable ride for both the driver and passengers especially during long journey. Designed for practical, the car is also comes with 510 litres of luggage space. Standard equipment across all variants includes ABS, Brake Assist, Hill-hold Assist, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TC), redesigned halogen headlights, and front-and- rear 360?sensors. Also standard are the 15-inch alloy wheels and the brakes are ventilated discs at the front and drums at the rear.

The entry-level Persona Standard comes with two airbags, single-DIN head unit with Bluetooth connectivity, fabric seats and regular key start as standard features. The Executive variant has the same features with addition of a pair of front fog lights, boot lid spoiler, double-DIN head unit with Bluetooth connectivity, rear USB charging ports (1.5A and 2.1A) and fabric door inserts.

Whereas the highest of Premium variant gets leather upholstery, keyless entry with push start button, six airbags, Android-based touchscreen system and power retractable side mirrors.

To celebrate Merdeka and Malaysia Day, Proton is offering three-year free service with parts and labour inclusive for bookings made before Sept-30. Prospective car buyers can make a booking with a refundable fee of RM300. Proton expects to sell between 3,000 and 4,000 units of the new Persona every month.
