MRT, LRT and Monorial ticket – 50% discount until Merdeka

According to The Star, commuters using the MRT, LRT and monorail lines will enjoy a 50% discount starting Tuesday until August 31, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. He made the announcement when launching the 51km Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) line, which he said would transform public transport in Kuala Lumpur. With the improvement of public transport, going to Kajang from Bukit Bintang will now take 33 minutes only with the cost of RM3.80. (SOURCE: THE STAR)

Mitsubishi Teases the Mitsubishi Expander

Mitsubishi Motor Indonesia has teased the ‘next generation MPV’, the Mitsubishi Expander ahead of its debut at 2017. The MPV is expected to feature seven seaters and will be designed based on Mitsubishi XM Concept which was previously revealed in Gaikindo Indonesian Auto Show. According to Indian Autos Blog, the vehicle will likely receive a 1.5L engine and the front wheel drive variant will get an optional CVT. From the teaser photos, the Expander will receives LED headlamps with LED strips and an aggressively styled front fascia with the company’s Dynamic Shield grille. (SOURCE: INDIA AUTOS BLOG)

BMW ‘I’ division chief joins Faraday Future

According to Reuters, the BMW executive Kranz joins electric car startup Faraday Future as Chief Technology Officer, as it pushes to accelerate production of its FF91 luxury electric SUV despite its parent's financial woes. Faraday said in a statement late on Monday that Kranz would lead all engineering and technology research and development, purchasing and manufacturing improvements - "focused on getting the FF91 to production quickly". The Grand Tour Season 2 is here

Amazon has released a 30-second trailer for the new series of the high-octane motoring show, The Grand Tour Season 2 featuring Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. Be expected that there will be plenty of exotic cars and beautiful locations will be featured on the show. One of the many will be the Rimac Concept One, the electric supercar that almost took away the Richard Hammond life. Amazon has yet to confirm a return date for The Grand Tour, but it has definitely made the fans feeling excited for the show.

Volvo Buys Into Lynk&Co, Technology Sharing Venture with Geely

Volvo Cars has bought into Lynk & Co, its sister brand, and will also setup a 50/50 technology partnership company with the Geely brand. LYNK & CO will benefit from the use of Volvo technology both now and in the future, LYNK & CO will be jointly owned by Geely Holding, Geely Auto and Volvo Cars.

According to Hakan Samuelsson, Volvo’s CEO, “This planned collaboration will strengthen Volvo’s ability to develop next-generation electrified cars”. It is expected that the collaboration will extend in future to also cover electrified vehicle components such as battery cells, e-motors and charging systems in order to maximize synergies across the group.
