New Cars of the Week: Honda City Hybrid, Toyota Vios Sports Edition, Kia Rio ( 2017-07-21 )

Honda City Hybrid is official, price between V and E spec

Honda has officially announced the Honda City Hybrid in Malaysia. Previously announced the Jazz Hybrid back in June 2017, Honda Malaysia has been aggressively launching new models ever since. The City Hybrid takes on the same positioning with the Jazz Hybird, it will be placed in between the V spec (High spec) and E spec. The City Hybrid is equipped with Sport Hybrid i-DCD system that combines a 1.5 litre DOHC i-VTEC engine, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox with an integrated electric motor, a lithium-ion hybrid battery and an electric driven compressor.

Compared with the City E spec, the City Hybrid will be fitted with LED tail lights, Honda Hybrid instrumental panel display and Hybrid gear lever. The City Hybrid will not be getting LED headlamps and foglamps, leather seats, leather steering wheel, and curtain airbags from the City V. Other than that, the City Hybrid will still equipped with four airbags, ABS with EBD, BA, VSA, HAS, ESS, Reverse Camera as safety features.

The City Hybrid will only get 3 body color unlike the regular City, there are White Orchid Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic and Modern Steel Metallic as option. With that, the City Hybrid comes with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty with 10,000 km service intervals, as per the regular City. There’s an additional eight-year warranty for the lithium-ion hybrid battery.

Toyota Vios Sports Edition is everyone new racing sedan

UMW Toyota has announced the all new Vios Sports Edition in conjunction with the Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Challenge. The Vios Sports Edition is based on the 1.5J variant, sporting with 1.5 litre Dual VVT-I four cylinder engine. The Sports Edition will now large sporty rear spoiler and 15-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels similar to the ones on the 1.5G as well as body decals which inspired from the race car. Inside, the Vios get sports seats, unique floor mats and gearknob and illuminated scuff plates, as well as amber footwell lighting instead of blue.

Other than that, the Vios Sports Edition will come with standard equipment like halogen reflector headlights, LED daytime running lights, rear fog lights, keyless entry, push-button start, a radio/CD player with Bluetooth, four speakers, dual airbags and vehicle stability control.

Kia Rio 1.4MPI equipped with new engine but same four speed transmission

Naza Malaysia has launched the all new Kia Rio. The Rio is B-segment hatchback that were once captured the heart of Malaysian. The Kia Rio is now looking sporty with increase in size inside out, the new 1.4 litre naturally-aspirated Dual CVVT four-cylinder engine provides 100 PS at 6,000 rpm and 133 Nm at 3,000 rpm. From the exterior, the Rio has been given a redesigned front with thinner Kia DNA radiator grille and modern looking headlamps with LED DRL. The Kia Rio rear lamps are looking remarkably stylish with arrow shaped LED light.

The standard kit comes with halogen headlights, front and rear fog lights, 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels, keyless entry, push-button start, a Supervision 3.5-inch multi-info display, auto lights and wipers, automatic climate control, sunroof, black fabric upholstery, six speakers and a reverse camera. Safety wise, the Kia Rio comes with six airbags, ABS with EBD, BA and Stability Control.
