Weekly Round-Up: First Honda Jazz Hybrid Has Been Delivered, Britain Ban Sales of Petrol and Diesel Cars by 2040, Waze Arrives on Android Auto ( 2017-07-28 )

1.  First Honda Jazz Hybrid delivery

Honda Malaysia today delivered the very first New Jazz Sport Hybrid i-DCD to its proud owner, Pn. Aneesa Binti Abdul Rashid at an official handover ceremony held at Honda Global Amity in Bangi. Previously launched on June, Honda Jazz has immediately becoming a strong contender in B segment hatchback. The sales record shows that there are over 1,300 units sold within 2 weeks of its official launch which exceeded the initial sales target of 1,200 units.

The Jazz Hybrid is equipped with 1.5 litre SOHC i-VTEC engine and mated with a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission as well as a lithium-ion battery pack. The Jazz Hybrid Sport Hybrid i-DCD is able to produce power output like a 1.8 litre naturally aspirated engine. While the fuel consumption is as low as 25 km per litre, the Jazz Hybrid is here to take on any road conditions.

Besides being the first Malaysian to drive home the New Jazz Hybrid, Pn. Aneesa was gifted with a full Mugen body kit for her Lunar Silver Metallic New Jazz Hybrid and tickets to the Formula 1 Grand Prix 2017 in October worth a total of RM6,350 as tokens of appreciation from Honda Malaysia in celebrating this milestone.

2. Britain ban sales of petrol and diesel cars by year 2040 

Britain is set to ban all new petrol and diesel vehicles on 2040 In order to prevent the continuously rising level of Nitrogen Oxide which prone to major risk to public health. The government will also make 255 million pounds, or $332 million, available for local governments to take short-term action, such as redesigning the public buses in order to reduce air pollution. The ban will not affect cars with hybrid and plug-in hybrid drivetrains, but rather "conventional petrol and diesel cars". The strategy document was published after an extended legal battle in which ministers were ordered by the courts to produce new plans to tackle illegal levels of nitrogen dioxide. 3. Mitsubishi launches Expander MPV

As what we have reported last week, Mitsubishi Indonesia has finally unveiled the Expander MPV to media and public. It will be making its official debut at the GIIAS 2017 show in Jakarta in August where it will be seen with a host of updates while could bear a price tag of 189 million to 246 million Rupiah (RM60,000 to RM79,000).

The Expander is a seven seater MPV with a modern looking design language. On the front, it features the new headlamps with turn indicators and a distinctive three slat chrome grill with LED pilot lamps on either side. The Expander is powered by 1.5 litre MIVEC petrol engine mated to a 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission. 4. Waze arrives on Android Auto 

Formerly known as FreeMap Israel, Waze is a GPS navigation software that works on most smartphones and tablets by providing voice over turn-by-turn navigation. Now, Waze has launched for Android Auto, so if you prefer it to Google Maps, you can get it on your larger dashboard screen.

Yet, Waze has no plans to bring its app to Apple CarPlay. That’s probably because Apple doesn’t seem to have any plans to allow third-party map apps to be blessed up as the default navigation applications. (SOURCE: THE VERGE)

5. Vehicle Sales Data June 2017

Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) releases the latest vehicle sales data for June 2017. The sales figure tumble a little from last month 50,600 units to 50,275 units and register a total drop of 0.6% (325 units). The reason contribute to the fall of the sales figure is because short working month due to Hari Raya festive holidays. However the gap is not that far, we are hoping that better sales figure on the month of July.
