Mazda Malaysia has just launched the all-new 2017 CX-5 at Inokom Plant in Kulim, Kedah. The newly announced model comes with five variants, starting at 2.0 litre 2WD which comes with 2 variants, the GL and GLS featuring 2.0 litre engine produces 162hp and 210 Nm of torque. The top spec GLS features a 2.5 litre SkyActiv-G engine with 192hp and 257 Nm of torque. Besides, for the first time, the CX-5 comes with diesel option with 2 variants, the 2WD and AWD, the 2.2 litre SkyActiv-D turbodiesel able to produce 173 hp and 420 Nm of torque.
All variants will be mated with six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and G-Vectoring Control (GVC). The new models will come with plenty of Mazda all new technology, such as Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) and Smart City Brake Support (front) can be found on GLS variants. The diesels will be further boosted by Smart City Brake Support, Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) and Driver Attention Alert (DAA) as well as Active head-up display.
Prior to the launch of all new CX-5, Mazda Malaysia also launches new paint centre at Inokom plant at Kulim, offering Mazda premium color for locally assembled models sold in Malaysia. Buyers can either choose for solid paint or RM400 top up for metallic paint finish. Also, Mazda has introduced Soul Red Crystal, Machine Grey and Snowflake Pearl White Pearl Mica to their original color palette which cost an extra RM2,000.

AFS (Adaptive Front Lighting System)
The system optimizes distribution of light from the headlights according to driving circumstances. Depending on vehicle speed and steering input, the system points the low-beams headlights in the direction the driver intends to travel.

DAA (Driver Attention Alert)
The system comes into play at speeds above 65 km/h and begins to “learn” the driver’s habits, watching inputs and the vehicle’s movements in the early stages before fatigue is a factor.
LAS (Lane Keep Assist System)
The system allows drivers to choose between Lane-Trace, which provides steering assistance early in order to help keep the vehicle centered in the lane
LDWS (Lane Departure Warning System)
The system detects line marking on the road surface and warns the driver of unintentional lane departures.
BSM (Blind Spot Monitoring)
The system uses radars mounted in the rear bumper to detect vehicles approaching from behind and in the adjacent lane. It alerts drivers to the presence of vehicles in the blind spot on either side by displaying an icon in the appropriate door mirror.
RCTA (Rear Cross Traffic Alert)
When backing out from a parking spot, Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) detects any vehicle approaching from the side and promptly alerts the driver.
SCBS (Smart City Brake Support)
The system detects objects ahead at low speeds and prepares the vehicle to stop by adjusting the brake pads closer to the disc. If no driver action is taken, the system automatically applies the brakes.
