Weekly Round Up: DS7 Crossback Making A Comeback, Proton Iriz Joining WRC ( 2017-05-20 )

1. Luxury car displayed in vending machine in Singapore

Autobahn Motors new ABM building in Singapore is totally eye catching. The owner at Autobahn Motors spent 3 years conceptualizing the facility and figure out ways to offers a storage capacity of 60 exotic, vintage and super cars. The building is being controlled by an automated system called AIMS, which stands for Automotive Inventory Management System. The system can be used to facilitate the parking system in Singapore.

2. DS7 Crossback being publicly revealed during inauguration of France President.

The DS7 Crossback is the ride that took France new president Emmanuel Macron to the Champs-Elysées during his inauguration. The SUV is being revealed in Geneva previously and had caught plenty of public attention since. The DS7 Crossback is a 5 seaters SUV with reclinable rear seats. The SUV also features rotating LED sport active lights which swivel at start up. The DS7 comes with driver attention monitoring, DS Connected Pilot, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control and more.

3. DBKL plans to reduce parking bays in buildings

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is looking at ways to disallow parking bays in buildings in an effort to reduce road traffic and encourage city folks to use public transportation. Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the policy of not having parking bays in a building has become a trend of a developed city, and Kuala Lumpur should follow suit. 4. Nio EP6 breaks Nurburgring lap record in 6 minutes and 45.9 seconds run

The NIO EP9 electric supercar has broken the north loop of the Nürburgring Lap Record with an impressive 6:45.90 minute run versus the previous record of 6:48.00. NIO is a global start up based company in China, specialized in designing and developing high performance, premium electric and autonomous vehicles. The fastest lap ever recorded was done in 1983 by Porsche 956, the lap time is 6 minutes 11.13 seconds which makes it almost impossible to beat.

5. Weekly fuel price update

This week fuel price is being raised. RON 95 will be priced at RM2.08 per litre (+RM0.07) RON 97 will be priced at RM2.37 per litre (+RM0.08) Diesel will be priced at RM1.99 (+RM0.04).

6. Police captured hit and rob gang in car hijacking cases

Police busted a hit-and-rob gang responsible for at least 10 cases of car hijacking and robbery with the arrest of seven men and two women. Police got their breakthrough when five men were arrested in possession of two stolen vehicles and a rifle at Bandar Kinrara. (SOURCE: The Sun Daily

7. Proton make a return to World Rally Championship (WRC) with Iriz R5

The Iriz is a famous hatchback model from our national car, Proton. The Iriz R5 is powered by Mitsubishi turbocharged four cylinder engine, the engine capacity is detuned from 2.0 litres to 1.6 litres. The Iriz R5 is also equipped with Xtrac transmission, Reiger dampers, Brembo brakes and Cosworth electronics. The Iriz will be replacing Proton Satria Neo S2000 in WRC2 category and compete against Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Yaris and Ford Fiesta.
