New Cars of the Week: Kia Optima GT, Proton Iriz 2017, Volkswagen Beetle, Volkswagen Vento Allstar and Vento GT ( 2017-05-26 )

Kia Optima GT

The Kia Optima GT was revealed, it is another premium D-segment sedan by Korean car maker Kia. Optima GT comes with 3 colors, Gravity Blue, Aurora Black and Snow White Pearl. Kia Optima GT is packed with 2.0 litre turbocharged four cylinder petrol engine, produced 242hp at 6,000 rpm and 350Nm at 4,000 rpm . The Kia Optima GT is match with 6 speed automatic transmission with paddle shifter. The Kia Optima GT runs from zero to 100 km/h in just 7.4 seconds. The Kia Optima is sharp looking with LED headlight with DRL and LED tail lights. Safety wise, the car is packed with six airbags, ESC, VSM, HAC, ABS and ESS.

Proton Iriz 2017

The Proton Iriz 2017 has dropped off 1.6 Executive variant and only offers manual transmission to 1.3 Standard variant. The 1.6 Premium will now get two tone exterior color scheme, with black finish on the roof, door mirror caps, roof and spoiler. All models now get black front grille, an upgrade from the previous chrome bar. The new Iriz received a few tweaks, with a new touchscreen head unit, new semi leather and fabric seat upholstery, keyless entry and push start for 1.3 Executive, new CVT improvements. The Iriz 2017 remain unchanged in terms of safety features.

Volkswagen Beetle

The iconic Beetle makes a comeback with an update, the new Beetle is spotted with redesign bumper and new color. The Blue Silk (in the picture) is added into the lineup. The Beetle is packed with 1.2 litre TSI engine that produce 105 PS and 175 Nm of torque with seven speed DSG transmission gearbox. The Beetle is pretty much the same like it’s previous unit, the significant body colored interior trim remain as standard. The Sports variant comes with an upgrade of Apple CarPlay, Android Auto to the touchscreen head unit. Other than that, the Beetle remains as one of the classic collectibles for car enthusiast.

Volkswagen Vento Allstar, Vento GT

The Vento is now comes with more option. The Vento Allstar is like sedan version for Polo Allstar which was previously launched. The Allstar comes with various subtle accessories update with ‘Allstar’ badges being imprinted onto leather seats, floor matt, door scruff plates and aluminium pedals.

Meanwhile the Vento GT is an update from Vento Highline, it is powered by 1.2 litre TSI engine with seven speed DSG dual-clutch transmission, just like the one under the hood of Beetle. The Vento GT features a bodykit on the front chin, side boot spoiler and rear bumper. The roof is now painted with black and same goes to wing mirror and lower door black strip that matches the sporty bodykit. There are ‘GT’ badges being imprinted onto the floor mats, door scruff plate and aluminium pedals. The GT line also features two toned alloy rims and ESC.
