Mazda claims new breakthrough with their engine technology
Mazda has announced the development of a breakthrough engine technology known as Spark Controlled Compression Ignition and plans to introduce in 2019. The Spark Controlled Compression Ignition is Mazda’s version of a homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) engine, which can burn gasoline without a sparkplug firing, the way a diesel motor does. The automaker said its goal is to slash emissions emanating from its production and products to 50% of 2010 levels by 2030 and 90% by 2050. With the upgraded engines, a Mazda model that currently gets 30 miles per gallon could get nearly 40 miles per gallon in its next iteration, potentially saving owners at least several dollars per fillup on a 15-gallon tank of gasoline. According to Business Insider Malaysia, About 63,000 people have canceled their Tesla Model 3 orders in the past year, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said during the electric-car company’s quarterly earnings call on last Wednesday, August 3. Total orders for the entry-level electric luxury sedan dropped to 455,000 from about 518,000, Musk said, but he suggested the cancellations were merely a drop in the bucket because the company had averaged about 1,800 new Model 3 reservations a day since Friday, when the first 30 cars were handed over to Tesla employees.
Tesla’s manufacturing plans for the Model 3 involve increasing the scale of production gradually over time and Tesla is on track to produce as many as 20,000 of the vehicles per month by the December of this year. (SOURCE: BUSINESS INSIDER)
